WILDFIRE POTS HOSTS FIRST FRIDAY AT WINTER SUN

 

            FROM BRICK OVEN TO WOOD FIRED KILN

 

Sam Siller, owner and baker at Sweetwater Bakery will share his sourdough breads, samples and sales at Wildfire Pots on July 4 from 5-7p.m.  Guess what?  Sam is also a potter.  He and McCabe Coolidge will unveil pots from a recent wood firing.

 

Both bread and pots have been “baked” in large brick structures that are hand fed with small wood chunks for many hours.  Sam wood fires his break weekly to supply local stores and also sells the loaves at Blacksburg Farmers’ Market on Saturdays.  McCabe regularly fires up his backyard kiln to produce unique pots with varied hues, ash and salt glazes.

 

First Friday is a monthly reception with food, drink and fun at Wildfire Studio, under Winter Sun.  In addition to Sam and McCabe’s work, local jeweler Ann Vaughn’s work is on display and all musicians are invited to a shared open mike with Under the Sun Gallery.
